Located on the southern coast of China, the Historic Centre of Macao is a vibrant testament to the cultural exchange between Europe and Asia. Here are several ways to reach this UNESCO World Heritage site:
Macau International Airport (MFM) is the main gateway for travelers coming by air. Upon landing, you can take a taxi, rent a car, or use the public buses to reach the Historic Centre. The airport is well-connected to the city, and it takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the centre by taxi.
Visitors can arrive at the Historic Centre of Macao by ferry from Hong Kong. There are two main ferry terminals in Macao: Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and Taipa Ferry Terminal. The trip from Hong Heart takes approximately one hour.
If you are coming from Mainland China, you can use one of the three main border gates: the Gongbei Border Gate, the Lotus Bridge in Cotai, or the recently opened Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB). Once you arrive at any of these points, you can take a shuttle bus, public bus or a taxi to reach the city centre.
Public buses are a convenient way to get around Macao. Routes 3, 3A, 4, 8A, 18, 19, 26A, 33, N1A, and others serve areas near the Historic Centre. For a more scenic route, you might opt for the Macau Tram
Please note that while taxis and private car hires are also available, traffic can be heavy, and parking is limited near the Historic Centre, so public transport is often the recommended way to explore the area.Travel Tips
