By Subway

The most convenient way to reach Hongdae is by taking the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. The area is primarily served by Hongik University Station (Hongdae-ipgu Station), which is on the Line 2 (Green Line), also known as the inner-city loop line. This station is also interconnected with the AREX (Airport Railroad Express), offering direct access from Incheon International Airport.

By Airport Railroad Express (AREX)

If you're coming straight from Incheon International Airport, you can take the AREX to Hongik University Station. The Express Train takes about 51 minutes whereas the All Stop Train would take approximately an hour but stops at all stations along the way.

By Bus

For those preferring bus travel, both local and airport buses have stops in Hongdae. The main bus station in the area is called Hongik University Bus Stop. Multiple bus routes cross this point, ensuring connection to various parts of Seoul. From Incheon International Airport, you can use the airport limousine bus services which have routes that stop near Hongik University.

Taxis are a convenient, though more expensive option, to reach Hongdae. Seoul's taxi service is reliable and available 24/7. When coming from the airport or any other part of the city, you can simply tell the driver "Hongik University" or show them the address written in Korean.

Those opting to drive themselves or use car services like Uber will find well-marked roads and English signage in many places. However, traffic in Seoul can be very heavy, and parking is notoriously difficult and expensive in Hongdae.
