Horton Plains National Park is a breathtaking nature reserve and ecotourism venue situated in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, nestled at the southern plateau of the central mountain region near Nuwara Eliya. It encompasses an area of over 3,169 hectares and is perched at an altitude ranging from 2,100 to 2,300 meters. This stunning park is known for its rich biodiversity and the famous World's End, a sheer cliff with a dramatic 880-meter drop. It's home to montane grasslands and cloud forests and hosts many species that are endemic to the region. Visitors can encounter a variety of wildlife, including sambar deer, leopards, and diverse birdlife. The park is also the catchment area for three major Sri Lankan rivers. Horton Plains provides an ethereal landscape with misty grasslands and stunning flora. The park offers well-maintained trails which lead to Baker's Falls and the aforementioned World's End, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It's recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing its significant ecological and geographical importance.
