Moon Plains is located just a few kilometers away from the town of Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. Known locally as 'Sandatenna' or 'Sanda Pahana', this relatively new attraction was opened to the public in 2014. Moon Plains is distinguished by its unique, vast, open landscape surrounded by the beautiful hills of the central highlands. The area offers a panoramic view of famous mountains such as Pidurutalagala, Single Tree Hill, and Kikiliyamaha. The plains themselves are quite extensive and are comprised of verdant green grasslands, which resemble the surface of the moon, giving the visit its name. A significant feature of the Moon Plains is 'Mini World's End', a viewpoint with a sheer drop that provides a stunning vista spanning miles and showcasing the spectacular terrain below. Wildlife, including buffaloes, deer, and various species of birds, can frequently be spotted in their natural habitat at Moon Plains, adding to the region's charm. Apart from the breathtaking views and wildlife, the drive through the vegetable farms to reach the location is also a captivating experience.

Bad experience at moon plains

The staff here is very arrogant and they keep the locals waiting and give priority for foreigners.. simply they get paid a little higher

Moon Plains
