Kalaram Temple is an ancient shrine located in the Panchavati area of Nashik, Maharashtra, India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, and the name Kalaram signifies the black color of the deity's idol. The temple's history dates back to 1782 CE and was constructed under the patronage of Sardar Odhekar of Peshwa. The temple architecture is inspired by the simplicity and aesthetics of Hindu design, featuring an iconic entrance gate called 'Rama Darwaza' adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures. Built with black stones, the temple's sanctum houses the idols of Lord Rama, his wife Sita, and brother Lakshmana, all of which are also carved out of black stone. The Kalaram Temple is not just a religious site but also a significant landmark in the Indian freedom movement, as it was the focal point of the non-caste-entry movement, led by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in 1930. Surrounded by lush greenery, the temple provides a serene atmosphere, and an adjacent garden called 'Sita Gufa' adds to the mythological essence of the place.
