Pandavleni Caves, also known as Nashik Caves, are a group of 24 ancient rock-cut caves located near Nashik, Maharashtra, India. They date back to the 3rd century BC and the 2nd century AD and are significant for their historical and architectural value. These caves were carved out of the Trirashmi Hill and were a sanctuary for the Jain saints. They reflect the Hinayana Buddhist sect influence and contain inscriptions in the Brahmi script. Most caves are viharas except for Cave 18, which is a chaitya. Intricate carvings, inscriptions, and water systems demonstrate the engineering skills of that era. The caves were named after the Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata; however, there is no link between the caves and the mythical characters. The site is now a popular tourist attraction that provides a mix of serenity and cultural insight.
