Kamakhya Temple is a revered Hindu temple and one of the 51 Shakti Peethas situated on the Nilachal Hill in the city of Guwahati, Assam. The temple is dedicated to the Mother Goddess Kamakhya, an incarnation of Sati, and is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas. The structure displays a rich blend of the medieval Assamese architectural style, featuring a beehive-like Shikhara and exquisite stone carvings. The sanctum sanctorum houses the sacred Yoni-like stone, over which a natural spring flows. This temple is particularly famous for the Ambubachi Mela, an annual fertility festival where it's believed the Goddess menstruates, and the waters of the Brahmaputra turn red. Devotees from all over the country flock here to seek blessings. The complex showcases the rich cultural heritage of Assam and provides a picturesque view of the surrounding landscapes and the flowing River Brahmaputra.
