Kanpur Memorial Church Tourism

The Kanpur Memorial Church, located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, is a monument that commemorates the British residents who lost their lives during the Siege of Cawnpore in 1857. The church, designed by Walter Granville, architect of East Bengal Railway, stands in the heart of the city showing the Lombardic Gothic style architecture, which is somewhat unique in India. Constructed with bright red bricks with polychrome dressings, the building is highlighted by its arched lancet windows and the tall spire which is a centerpiece of this architectural marvel. The church's interior is adorned with memorials and its East window includes beautiful stained-glass panels representing the Christian virtues of Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Patience, and Humility.
