The Katra Mosque is a prominent historical landmark located in Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. Constructed by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan in 1723-1724, the mosque stands as a testament to the architectural ingenuity of the time, blending Mughal and Bengali architecture. Although partially damaged by an earthquake in 1897, the structure's remnants with its two large corner towers still evoke its past grandeur. The mosque complex includes a spacious courtyard surrounded by a series of double-storied domed cells, which once served as a madrasah. The Katra Mosque's most striking feature is its two enormous mehrabs which could be heard across the city during the Nawab's reign. The tomb of Murshid Quli Khan lies under the entrance staircase. Today, it is not only a site for historical interest but also continues to serve as a place of worship, attracting both tourists and devotees alike.
