Wasef Manzil, also known as the New Palace, is a historical building located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River in Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. It was built by Nawab Wasif Ali Mirza Khan under the direction of British architect Mr. Duncan Macleod, following the Nawab's return from his European tour. Completed in 1904, the palace served as the Nawab's residence. The grandeur of the structure is evident in its Indo-European design, which features a captivating blend of British and Mughal architecture. The palace is adorned with intricate designs, elaborate stucco work, and impressive pillars. The site, which survived a devastating earthquake, is famous for its statues, marbles, and the remains of a dancing hall. The surviving portions of the Wasef Manzil provide a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the Nawabs of Bengal and stand testament to the architectural advancements of that era.
