Kodaikanal Lake, also known as Kodai Lake, is a man-made lake located in the Kodaikanal city of Tamil Nadu, India. This star-shaped lake is spread over an area of 60 acres and is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,286 meters (7,500 feet) above sea level. Surrounded by the lush greenery of the Palani Hills range, it serves as a focal point for tourists visiting Kodaikanal. The lake was created in 1863 by Sir Vere Henry Levinge, the then Collector of Madurai, who wanted to create an attractive leisure spot for residents. Boating in the serene waters of the lake is a popular activity, with rowboats and pedal boats available for hire. A well-maintained 5 km path that skirts the perimeter of the lake is perfect for walking, cycling, or horse riding. The Kodaikanal Lake also has an adjoining park, the 'Bryant Park', and is close to other attractions like Coaker's Walk and Kurinji Andavar Temple.

There are several gates to take the boats from and its cheaper if you are in a group. It was Rs.400 for 6 people in Dec 2023. The flora and birds you see will depend on the season - I was able to see ..

Nice & Cool place for a morning walk
Nice place for a morning walk.. during peak seasons this place is more crowded, another option is to hire cycles and you can roam around the lake. Boating is good too.
