Best Time to Visit Kodaikanal Lake

The ideal time to visit Kodaikanal Lake in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, is during the post-monsoon and summer months, which generally span from September to May. During this period, the climate is most conducive for tourists to enjoy the lake's serene beauty and indulge in various activities it offers. September to November marks the post-monsoon season when the rainfall decreases substantially and the freshly bathed flora surrounding the lake is in full bloom, creating a captivating and lush environment. The temperatures are cool and comfortable, typically ranging from 10°C to 15°C. This is an excellent time for boating, cycling around the lake, and leisurely walks.

The summer months from March to May are also quite popular among visitors. During this time, Kodaikanal becomes a retreat from the scorching heat of the plains, with temperatures that usually hover between 20°C and 30°C. The weather is pleasant, which makes it perfect for engaging in outdoor activities like fishing, horse riding, and enjoying the tranquility of the lake. Moreover, the town hosts the annual Summer Festival in May, which includes flower shows and cultural events, adding to the reasons why this period is favored by tourists. However, tourists should be aware that this is peak season, and Kodaikanal Lake, along with the town, might be crowded, so booking accommodations in advance is highly recommended.
