Koma Tsachu, often described as a hidden gem, is a delightful hot spring located in the Punakha district of Bhutan. Reaching Koma Tsachu requires a combination of road travel and trekking, which makes the journey an adventurous experience.
The nearest airport to Punakha is Paro International Airport (PBH). Upon arrival in Paro, you can hire a taxi or make arrangements with a tour operator to transport you to Punakha, which is approximately a 4-hour drive away.
Once in Punakha, you will commence a journey towards Koma Tsachu. The route typically begins from Punakha town, heading to a place known as Khuruthang. From Khuruthang, you will need to drive towards the village of Kabesa.
You may choose to take a bus, hire a taxi, or have a private car to take you up to the start of the trail leading to Koma Tsachu. Public transport may not be readily available, and services could be infrequent, so booking a taxi or a tour vehicle in advance is advisable.
The road journey ends at the village of Kabesa, where you will start your trek towards the hot springs. The trek to Koma Tsachu is considered moderately challenging and takes about an hour and a half to two hours, depending on your pace. The trail winds through a serene forest area providing a wonderful opportunity to enjoy Bhutan's pristine natural environment.
The best time to visit Koma Tsachu is during the winter months from November to March when the weather is cooler, and the warm hot springs offer a comforting respite from the cold.
