Best Time To Visit Kothi (Kinnaur) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Kothi, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh

Kothi, located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India, is renowned for its picturesque landscapes and cultural richness. The best time to visit Kothi is generally considered to be between the months of May and October. During this period, the weather remains pleasantly cool and conducive for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The summer season, starting in May, provides relief from the scorching heat of the plains with temperatures ranging between 8°C and 30°C. This is also the ideal time for trekking, camping, and exploring the verdant valleys and high-altitude villages. The monsoon season can present occasional showers from July to September, but the rain is usually not heavy enough to disrupt travel plans significantly.

As the monsoon subsides, September and October offer clear skies and a crisp climate perfect for appreciating the panoramic vistas of the snowy peaks and lush apple orchards Kothi is famous for. The onset of autumn colors the landscape in hues of gold and amber, and the region celebrates several local festivals during this time, which can provide travelers with a glimpse into the local culture and traditions. However, visitors should avoid the winter months from November to April as heavy snowfall closes many roads and makes travel to Kothi challenging. During these months, temperatures can plummet below freezing, making it difficult for tourists to enjoy their stay.
