About Kundalpur Digambar Jain Temple

Kundalpur Digambar Jain Temple is a revered Jain pilgrimage site located in Nalanda district of Bihar, India. This temple is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara (spiritual teacher) of Jainism. The complex houses a main temple where a majestic statue of Lord Mahavira is enshrined. Surrounded by lush greenery and a serene atmosphere, the temple, with its striking architecture, stands as a testimony to the rich cultural heritage of Jainism. The site comprises two hills, called the Vipulachal Mountain and the Vaibhargiri Mountain, where several smaller shrines and temples are spread across. Inside the complex, the visitors can find an ancient pond named 'Dirga Pushkarni'. Kundalpur becomes a hub of religious activities during the Mahavir Jayanti festival when Jains from across the world gather to celebrate. The place is not just of religious importance but also offers insights into the life and teachings of Lord Mahavira. A visit to Kundalpur is often combined with a trip to the nearby Nalanda University Ruins, which is another significant historical and educational site.

Well Maintained Jain Temple
As part of local Nalanda tour by an e-rickshaw, visited the Kundalpur Jain temple. It is the birthplace pf Tirthankar Lord Mahavir. The temple has an attractive architecture. The temple premises have couple of temples, the entire premises are neatly maintained. When we visited in the late morning, there was no crowd. As it is not far-off from Nalanda Excavated site, visit along with Nalanda ruins is recommended.

Take care of your own food or eat outside madir campus
Mandir is nice. But everything is behind money. We reached here at 25th jan afternoon at 12 pm. Food quality in mandir is horrible. And no one is controlling the quality of food. Half cooked food getting served. Food being by passed from back door by cook to someone else... and we jain visiters just watching the sceen and waiting for food as of we are beggers

Beautiful temple commemorations birth of Lord mahaveer
This beautiful Jain temple commemorates the birth of bhagwan Mahaveer, who was said to be born in kundalpur. There are multiple temples and a dharamshala in the complex. It is very beautiful and peaceful. This is a newer temple, another older temple is also present a little distance away. The location of this temple can be accessed from rajgir or from the main highway. Rajgir road is better.

Optional to see ..
We also visited the Jain temples of Kundalpur, there is one new temple and one old temple. Optional to see .. in Nalanda. Can give a miss.

Birthplace of Lord mahavira
This is around 7-10 kms from nalanda main area and can be reached via a tanga(horse-driven) or electric van (toto). It is a must visit place to experience the serenity first-hand.
