Best Time to Visit Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary

Located near Siliguri in West Bengal, India, Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. The optimal time to visit this sanctuary is during the cooler months of the year, which are from October to March. During this period, the weather is pleasant, with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 20°C. The cool and comfortable climate makes it ideal for wildlife spotting as animals are more active in moderate temperatures. Additionally, this season is great for bird watching since several migratory birds make the sanctuary their home during these months.

Visitors should note that the sanctuary receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, from June to September, which could hinder exploration and wildlife observation. The lush greenery post-monsoons can be a visual treat, but the dense foliage might make spotting wildlife more challenging. The summer months, from April to June, see higher temperatures, which can be quite punishing for outdoor activities. Despite the heat, early mornings and late afternoons in the summers can still provide opportunities to see the sanctuary's inhabitants. However, for the most comfortable experience and better chances of wildlife encounters, October to March remains the recommended visiting period.
