Malvan Marine Sanctuary Tourism

Malvan Marine Sanctuary is a protected marine area in Tarkarli, situated in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, India. This sanctuary spreads over an area of about 29.22 square kilometers and was declared in 1987 with the primary aim of conserving the region's rich marine biodiversity. It encompasses the Malvan coast, including several beaches and rocky stretches, as well as adjacent areas of the Arabian Sea. This aquatic sanctuary hosts a variety of life forms including corals, seaweeds, mollusks, and an array of fish species making it a splendid location for underwater adventures like scuba diving and snorkeling. The sanctuary is also critically important as breeding and feeding grounds for a multitude of marine organisms. The clear waters and the rich marine life of this underwater ecosystem provide an enchanting underwater experience, whilst the proximity to the popular Tarkarli Beach adds to its accessibility for visitors.
