By Air

The nearest airport to Matsumoto is the Matsumoto Airport. International travelers can fly into major international airports such as Narita or Haneda in Tokyo and then take a domestic flight to Matsumoto Airport. Upon arrival, you can take a limousine bus or taxi to reach the city center.

By Train

For train enthusiasts, the JR (Japan Railways) East offers convenient access to Matsumoto. The Limited Express Azusa runs from Tokyo's Shinjuku Station to Matsumoto and is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass for tourists. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours. Additionally, there are local and express train services from Nagano and Nagoya.
