Food History of Military History Museum (Militarhistorisches Museum), Dresden, Germany

The Military History Museum in Dresden may be largely focused on the military history of Germany but just like the military, food has its own integral part within this narrative. Historically, military campaigns have been significantly shaped by the food available to troops and the ways in which armies have been sustained. From the simple field rations to the food traditions brought back by soldiers, the gastronomic influence has been notable. However, the Museum itself is not specifically centered on food history; any direct connections to food within the museum would be in the context of its military exhibitions.
