Mount Harriet National Park, located near Port Blair on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, is renowned for its spectacular natural beauty and rich biodiversity. Covering approximately 46.62 square kilometers, it is named after Harriet Tytler, the wife of a British army officer and a natural history enthusiast. The park is set on a picturesque hill, which was once the summer headquarters of the Chief Commissioner during British Raj. It offers panoramic views of the Bay of Bengal and is surrounded by tropical forests. Home to a variety of flora and fauna, visitors can spot endemic birds, animals, and insects. This includes species like Andaman wood pigeon, Andaman wild pigs, turtles, and saltwater crocodiles. For nature lovers, it provides an ideal escape with its scenic trekking routes leading to the famous Mount Harriet peak. The area is historically significant as well, featuring in the last scene of the ₹20 Indian currency note.
