To reach Nikko, a popular destination for its UNESCO World Heritage sites, natural beauty, and hot springs, you can choose from various transportation options, depending on your point of departure.

From Tokyo by Train

  • Tobu Railway: The easiest and most popular route is to take the Tobu Railway from Asakusa Station in Tokyo directly to Nikko. The limited express train known as "Spacia" is the fastest option, taking about two hours.
  • Japan Railways (JR): You can take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen to Utsunomiya and transfer to the JR Nikko line. The whole trip takes about two hours as well.

From Tokyo by Bus

  • Direct Buses: Direct buses to Nikko are available from Tokyo and Shinjuku Station. The trip takes approximately 3-4 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

By Car

  • If you prefer to drive, you can rent a car and travel to Nikko via the expressways. The journey from Tokyo typically takes about 2-3 hours, but this could vary with traffic conditions.

From Narita or Haneda Airport

  • From Narita Airport, there are direct buses to Nikko, which take about 3.5 hours. From Haneda Airport, you would need to take a bus or train to Tokyo and then proceed as described above.
