Parunthumpara is a small village in the Western Ghats, near Thekkady in the Idukki district of Kerala, India. Known for its panoramic view of vast stretches of green valleys and hills, Parunthumpara is often called 'Eagle Rock' because of the large area it covers. This hill lookout is famous for its breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, especially the view of the Makara Jyothi illuminations at Sabarimala during the pilgrimage season. The viewpoint is on the way to Thekkady from Peerumedu. Parunthumpara's terrain is a blend of grasslands and forests, making it a scenic spot for picnics and casual hikes. From the vantage point, visitors can see the endless stretch of forests that paves the way to other popular destinations such as Thekkady and Wagamon.
