Ramakkalmedu is renowned for its strong winds, and it is a prime wind energy farm site with some of the largest windmills in the region, which are a sight to behold. The name 'Ramakkalmedu' translates to 'Land of Rama's Stone' or 'The Rock of Rama,' reflecting the local legend that Lord Rama had set his foot on the rock at this place during his search for his wife Sita.
