Best Time To Visit Petra By Night (Petra) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Petra by Night

Visiting Petra by Night is a mesmerizing experience that can be enjoyed on select evenings, typically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The event starts after sunset, around 8:30 PM, and lasts for a couple of hours. The best time of the year to join Petra by Night is during the spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November) when the weather is most pleasant. During these months, temperatures are mild, and the climate is comfortable for walking through the Siq and experiencing the candlelit ambiance of The Treasury (Al-Khazneh). It is best to avoid the summer months when the daytime temperatures can be extremely high and the evenings might still be uncomfortable for some visitors.

Moreover, the cooler nights in spring and fall enhance the overall experience, allowing for a calm and enjoyable walk under the stars. The event is weather-dependent, so it's wise to check in advance if it will take place on your intended date, and to dress appropriately for cooler nighttime temperatures. During winter, Petra by Night can be quite cold, and there might be occasional rain or even snow, which could lead to cancellations. Planning your visit around the full moon can also offer an exceptional experience, as the natural moonlight complements the atmospheric lighting, casting an ethereal glow over the ancient stones of Petra.
