Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, also known as the Bali temple on the lake or Pura Bratan, is a significant water temple on Bali, Indonesia. The temple complex is located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul. Built in 1633, the temple is used for offerings ceremony to the Balinese water, lake, and river goddess Dewi Danu, signifying the importance of Lake Bratan as a main source of irrigation in central Bali. The temple's design combines Hindu and Buddhist elements, and it is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the lake goddess, and the gods of Mount Batur and Mount Agung, the two principal mountains in Bali. Pura Ulun Danu Bratan is known for its picturesque setting, with the smooth reflective surface of the lake creating a unique floating impression, while the mountain range of the Bedugul region encloses the lake. It is one of Bali's quietest and most serene temples, with its cool atmosphere and lush greenery, offering a respite from the tropical heat of the coast.
