Best Time To Visit Ranjit Sagar Dam (Pathankot) In 2026 - 2027

Ranjit Sagar Dam, also known as the Thein Dam, is a prominent attraction in Punjab located near Pathankot. It is built on the Ravi River and is one of the largest hydroelectric projects in India. The area surrounding the dam offers breathtaking views and a serene environment that nature lovers and travelers enjoy. The best time to visit Ranjit Sagar Dam is during the early spring months from February to April. During this time, the weather is pleasant, neither too hot nor too cold, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. The temperature usually ranges from 10°C to 25°C, providing tourists with a comfortable environment to explore the dam and its surroundings. The landscapes are lush and vibrant after the winter season, and the water levels in the dam are also stable, which is ideal for photography. However, another good time to visit this marvel would be the post-monsoon season, during the months of September and October. During the post-monsoon season, the region rejuvenates with greenery from the rains, and the weather remains moderate with a pleasant breeze. It’s perfect for visitors who wish to avoid the summer heat and the heavy tourist crowd of the peak season. It is also an excellent time for birdwatching as many migratory birds visit the reservoir. Keep in mind though, that while the views are lush, the humidity levels can be slightly higher post-monsoon.
