Best Time To Visit Reckong Peo (Kinnaur) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Reckong Peo, Kinnaur

The best time to visit Reckong Peo in Kinnaur is between the months of May to October. During this period, the weather is pleasant, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 8°C to a maximum of 30°C. These months provide the perfect climate for exploring the beautiful landscapes, engaging in outdoor activities, and visiting local attractions such as the Kinnaur Kailash, a sacred mountain for Hindus and Buddhists alike. It is also the ideal time for trekking, as the snow from the winter has melted, revealing the grandeur of the Himalayan trails and the lush greenery of the region. However, monsoons can start in late July through September, and while the scenery is lush, one should be aware of occasional landslides that can disrupt travel.

Tourists interested in cultural experiences should consider visiting during the month of September, when the vibrant local festival of Phulaich (Fulaich) takes place. This flower festival showcases the rich traditions and folklore of Kinnaur and is a visual treat with dance performances and ritualistic activities. However, if one wishes to experience the white beauty of Reckong Peo covered in snow, then late October to April would be the time to visit. Do note that winter in Reckong Peo is harsh with heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures, and many routes may be closed due to snow, especially the roads to Spiti and Kinnaur valleys. Thus, travelers must be prepared for challenging conditions and limited accessibility during the winter season.
