Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, located in the heart of Yerevan, Armenia, is one of the most significant landmarks and the largest cathedral of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Completed in 2001 to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of Christianity in Armenia, it is named after Saint Gregory the Illuminator, who is credited with converting Armenia from paganism to Christianity in 301 AD. The cathedral's architecture is a blend of traditional Armenian church architecture with modern styles, resulting in a unique and majestic edifice. It consists of three churches, with the main one able to accommodate around 1700 worshippers. The cathedral complex also includes residences for the Catholicos, administrative offices, and a seminary. The cathedral's prominent bell tower houses 30 bells, gifted by Russia. Inside, it's adorned with religious paintings, intricate icons, and has relics of Gregory the Illuminator and other saints enshrined within its walls, making it a significant spiritual center.

Beautiful place
A very calm and uplifting place on a very hot, muggy and smoggy day. It was definitely worth a visit and we were happy to have done so.
