Travelers can fly into Kagoshima Airport (KOJ) from various domestic and international locations. From the airport, you can take a bus or rent a car to get to Kagoshima city.
Kagoshima is accessible by the Kyushu Shinkansen. Once you arrive at Kagoshima-Chuo Station, transfer to a local bus or taxi to reach the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal.
From Kagoshima-Chuo Station, take the Kagoshima City View Bus or other local buses directed to the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal.
If you are renting a car, use the Satsuma and Ibusuki Toll Roads to reach the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal. Parking is available at the terminal.
Once at the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal, you will board the Sakurajima Ferry for a quick 15-minute ride across the bay. The ferry operates 24 hours a day and departs every 10 to 15 minutes during the day and every hour at night. The journey offers scenic views of the volcano and its surroundings.
