Sangachoeling Monastery, situated on a ridge above Pelling in the scenic Indian state of Sikkim, is one of the oldest monasteries in the state. Established in the 17th century by Lama Lhatsun Chempo, one of the revered holy trinity of Sikkim, it offers a glimpse into the spiritual and cultural heritage of the region. The monastery is a significant centre for the Nyingmapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism and houses ancient scriptures and idols. The trek to the monastery is an integral part of the experience, providing visitors with breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges and surrounding forests. A footpath rising through the rich forest cover and occasionally clouded trails leads to the serene complex, where one can observe monks engaged in their religious practices and daily routines.
