Tashiding Monastery is a highly revered Buddhist monastery nestled on a hilltop in the Western part of Sikkim, India. Established in the 17th century, it is part of the Nyingmapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism and is renowned for its sacred chorten known as 'Thong-Wa-Rang-Dol' which roughly translates to 'Saviors by mere sight'. The monastery's backdrop includes the majestic Himalayas and offers tranquil views of the Rathong and Rangeet rivers. The architecture is traditional Tibetan, with elaborate wooden carvings and beautiful murals depicting holy figures. Annually, the monastery hosts the sacred Bumchu festival, attracting pilgrims from various regions. The location exudes peace and spirituality, and is steeped in myth where it is believed the mere act of visiting washes away one's sins.
