Named after the third highest mountain in the world, Mount Khangchendzonga, the park includes a range of ecosystems from subtropical forests to alpine meadows. Its altitude varies from 1,829 meters to over 8,550 meters above sea level. The park is home to a plethora of flora and fauna including several endangered species such as the snow leopard, red panda, and Himalayan tahr.
