Perched at an altitude of 2085 meters, the Pemayangtse Monastery stands as a splendid structure near Pelling in the Western part of Sikkim, India. Founded in the 17th century by Lama Lhatsun Chempo, it is one of the oldest and most esteemed monasteries of the Nyingma Order of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery's architecture showcases traditional Buddhist design with vivid murals and intricate woodwork. The main hall sanctifies several idols and religious texts, adding to its sanctity. The Pemayangtse Monastery also houses a seven-tiered painted wooden structure portraying the Guru Rimpoche's Heavenly Palace, which is a magnificent piece of art by Dungzin Rimpoche.
