How To Reach Sapporo

Traveling to Sapporo, Japan

By Air

New Chitose Airport (CTS) is the primary gateway to Sapporo and is very well connected domestically and internationally. To reach Sapporo city center from the airport, you can use:

• JR Rapid Airport Train - which will take you to the central Sapporo Station within approximately 40 minutes.
• Bus services - which connect the airport to different areas of Sapporo city.
• Taxi or car rentals - are available for a more private and direct route to your destination in Sapporate.

By Train

If you are already in Japan, you can take advantage of Japan's extensive rail network:

• Hokkaido Shinkansen - connects Tokyo to Hakodate, which can be followed by a transfer to a limited express train to Sapporo.
• Other JR Trains - numerous JR lines connect Sapporo with major cities and regions across Hokkaido.

By Ferry

There are ferry services available to Otaru and Tomakomai, both of which are relatively close to Sapporo, especially:

• Tsugaru Strait Ferries - connecting Aomori and Hakodate.
• From Hakodate, you can then transfer to a train to get to Sapporo.

By Car
