Best Time to Visit Sela Pass, Tawang

Sela Pass, located in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, is one of the most spectacular destinations in Northeast India. The ideal time to visit Sela Pass is during the summer months, from April to June. During this period, the weather is relatively pleasant with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 25°C. This is a great time to explore the beauty of the pass without the extreme cold that dominates the region for the better part of the year. The roads are also navigable as they are generally clear of snow, providing a smooth journey to the pass. Furthermore, the summer season embellishes the pass with vibrant rhododendrons and other alpine flora, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.

However, for those interested in experiencing the mesmerizing snowy landscape, the winter months, from November to February, offer a completely different charm. It is important to note that the temperatures can plummet to below freezing point, reaching as low as -10°C. This season transforms the landscape into a winter wonderland, blanketed in snow. It is essential for travelers to be prepared for road closures due to heavy snowfall, and to check local advisories before planning a trip during winter. The Sela Pass also holds religious significance, as it is believed to be the home of a hundred lakes, adding to the serenity of the visit. Whichever season you choose, ensure to carry appropriate clothing and gear, as the weather at Sela Pass can be unpredictable.
