Bumla Pass, located about 37 km away from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, India, is a high-altitude mountain pass at 15,200 ft above sea level. This pass is known for its scenic beauty and is one of the most off-the-beaten-paths. It holds historical significance as it was one of the battle sites of the 1962 Indo-China war. The pass is a border area and the Indo-China Line of Actual Control is just a few kilometers away from Bumla. Due to its location, visitors need a special permit from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Tawang and the Indian Army. The terrain to Bumla Pass is challenging, with sharp turns and rough roads, but the journey offers travelers panoramic vistas of the Eastern Himalayas, stark yet beautiful. The area is dotted with numerous lakes, including the famous Sangetsar Lake, also known as Madhuri Lake. The pass remains covered in snow for most of the year, which adds to its surreal beauty but also makes accessibility difficult.
