Siddavatam Fort is situated on the banks of the Penna River in the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, India. This historical fort has a rich heritage dating back to the 1300s, with its establishment credited to the Matti Rajas. Later, it came under the control of several dynasties, including the Vijayanagara Empire and the Golconda Sultanate. The fort reflects a blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural styles and is known for its massive gateways, bastions, and expansive fortifications sprawling across 30 acres. Remarkably, the fort is elevated at a height of 300 feet above the plain, which provided a strategic defensive advantage against invaders. Visitors can witness various structures within the fort, such as prisons, granaries, and an armory. The fort is coupled with legends and tales that add to its mystical allure. Although in a dilapidated condition, restoration efforts are underway to preserve this historical edifice. The fort's scenic surroundings and the river flowing by make it a picturesque location for history buffs and tourists alike.
