The Pondicherry Botanical Garden is a verdant oasis situated in the heart of Pondicherry, India. Established by the French colonists in the 19th century, the garden spreads across 22 acres housing a variety of exotic flora that includes both indigenous and foreign plant species. This botanical paradise is meticulously organized into 28 plots, each with a different theme including a Japanese rock garden, a fountain, and a children's train. The garden boasts an impressive collection of over 1500 plant species, some being particularly rare and endangered. Visitors can explore the sprawling green lawns, flower beds, gravel-lined paths, and fountains, which together create a serene environment. This place also serves as an educational hub with placards providing valuable information about plant species. Furthermore, it hosts musical fountain shows and the annual Flower Show which attracts tourists from around the globe. Preserving Pondicherry's botanical heritage, the garden also plays a crucial role in scientific research and conservation efforts, making it a vital asset for the city's ecology.
