Getting to Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China

Tiananmen Square, situated in the heart of Beijing, is accessible through various modes of transportation:

By Subway

• Line 1: Get off at Tiananmen West or Tiananmen East Station.
• Line 2: Transfer at Qianmen Station and walk north.

By Bus

The following bus routes serve Tiananmen Square:

• Routes 1, 2, 52, 82, 120, 126, etc.
• Alight at Tiananmat Dong, Tiananmen Xi, or Qianmen station.

By Taxi

Taxis are a convenient, though more costly option. Simply instruct the driver to take you to Tiananmen Square ("天安门广场" in Mandarin).

By Sightseeing Bus

Beijing also offers sightseeing buses which stop at various tourist attractions including Tiananmen Square.

Hours of Operation

The square is open from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Entry to the Square is free, but visiting the nearby attractions such as the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and the National Museum of China might require tickets.
