The Tripura Sundari Temple, also known as Matabari, is a revered Hindu house of worship located in the ancient city of Udaipur, about 55 km from Agartala, in the state of Tripura, India. This temple is hallowed as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and is dedicated to the goddess Tripura Sundari or Tripureshwari, an aspect of Parvati. The temple stands on the banks of the Kalyan Sagar Lake and is renowned for its distinctive Bengali-Hindu architectural fusion. Built by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 1501, the temple showcases the typical charchala style of Bengali temples, with its square-type sanctum of the typical Bengali hut. Its elevated core structure is crowned with a conical dome. The Tripura Sundari Temple is also an integral part of the local Tripura culture and festivities, with Diwali being one of the grand celebrations here. Devotees from across the country visit the temple, making it a significant spiritual and cultural hub.
