Ujjayanta Palace, a former royal palace of the princely state of Tripura, now serves as a museum and the center of arts and culture. Positioned in the heart of Agartala, the capital city of Tripura, it stands as an emblem of rich historical significance and architectural grandeur. Constructed between 1899 and 1901 by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya, the palace is set on sprawling Mughal gardens, laid out in the Charbagh style, complete with pools, gardens, and walkways. This two-storied mansion has a mixed architectural style featuring three large domes, the central one being 86 feet high, and is flanked by four smaller domes. It also showcases beautiful tile floors, carved wooden ceilings and doors. The palace is now home to the Tripura State Museum, exhibiting the art, culture, history, and ethnography of Northeast India with a sizeable collection of artifacts, textiles, and inscriptions.
