Best Time To Visit Tso Lake) (Tawang) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Tso Moriri Lake, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India

The most favorable time to visit Tso Moriri Lake in Tawang is during the summer months of May to September. During this time, the climate is relatively mild and the temperatures range from 15°C to 20°C, which is quite comfortable for exploring the high-altitude lake and its surroundings. This period avoids the harsh winter when temperatures fall well below freezing, and the area is often blanketed in snow, impeding travel and access to Tso Moriri. Summer provides a chance to witness the lake's tranquil blue waters under the clear sky and the surrounding flora and fauna at their most vibrant.

Moreover, the summer months are a perfect window for birdwatching as many migratory species visit the lake. The road conditions are also at their best, making it easier to navigate the rugged terrain of Arunachal Pradesh to reach Tso Moriri. However, it is important to note that even in summers, evenings can get quite chilly, so visitors are advised to carry appropriate warm clothing. Monsoons, starting from late July, can bring rainfall which might lead to travel disruptions due to landslides in the region, hence planning a trip before the onset of the rainy season is advisable.
