How To Reach Venice

Arriving in Venice, Italy

By Air

Venice is served by two main airports: Marco Polo Airport (VCE), which is the closest to the city, and Treviso Airport (TSF), which is used by some low-cost airlines. Marco Polo Airport is located about 8 km north of the city and offers a variety of transportation options to reach the city center, including:

• Water Taxis: A quick but more expensive way to reach Venice. They can take you directly to your hotel if it has a water entrance.
• Alilaguna Water Bus: A more affordable option with several lines connecting the airport to various points in Venice.
• Bus: ACTV and ATVO provide bus services from Marco Polo Airport to Piazzale Roma, which is the bus terminal in Venice.

Treviso Airport is around 40 km from Venice and can be reached by:

• ATVO or Barzi Bus Services: These coaches connect Treviso Airport to Piazzale Roma in Venice.

By Train

The main train station in Venice is Venice Santa Lucia Railway Station (Venezia Santa Lucia). It is well-connected to the Italian and European rail network, with frequent services from major Italian cities:

• Rome (Roma Termini)
• Milan (Milano Centrale)
• Florence (Firenze Santa Maria Novella)
• And other European cities.

Upon arrival, you can step out directly onto the Grand Canal and use the vaporetti (water buses) to reach your destination in Venice or walk to nearby accommodations.

By Car

Cars are not allowed in the main part of Venice, so it is recommended to park at one of the garages in Piazzale Roma or on the island of Tronchetto, just off the Ponte della Libertà, which connects Venice to the mainland. From Piazzale Roma, you can continue by foot, vaporetto, or water taxi.

By Bus

Buses arrive at the Piazzale Roma terminal from many Italian cities. From here, you can easily transition to water transportation or walk into the central parts of Venice.
