The Water Gardens of Sigiriya, part of the renowned historic and archaeological site in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka, exhibit the exemplary hydraulic engineering principles of ancient Ceylon. Located at the foothills of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, these gardens are considered amongst the oldest landscaped gardens in the world. The gardens would have been used for leisure by the monarchy, and their design reflects an advanced understanding of hydraulics, as the fountains are known to function solely by gravity and pressure, without the need for pumps. Excavations have uncovered the remains of limestone and marble floors, suggesting the gardens were luxuriously appointed in their day. Today, the remains of the gardens are a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Sinhalese kingdoms and a pivotal part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Beautiful resort
Beautiful resort, immaculately maintained and very clean and tidy. The Staff were polite and attentive. Lovely restaurant with great views over the lakes. The food was delicious, particularly recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast which was yummy. Highly Recommended!

Luxurious stay in nature
The Villas were equipped with everything you could wish for and excellently designed with love for details. The premises are very well mainained and the food was superb. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much for making our stay special.

Wow, wow, wow!!
The most stunning property we have stayed at in Sri Lanka. From the moment our driver pulled into the entrance you could sense how special the place was. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. We stayed in a room with a private pool which I would highly recommend. The room was fantastic and was large and spacious and felt very luxurious. There is a beautiful view of The Sigiriya Rock from the hotel grounds. Lots of animals to see in the grounds including monkeys, birds and even crocodiles!! We enjoyed a bicycle ride whilst we were there and a lovely treatment in the Spa. We will certainly return one day!

A Magical Retreat: Celebrating a Birthday
One of the most beautiful places we have ever been to. We went to celebrate my partners' birthday, and arriving there felt like a miracle. The property is uniquely located inside the park, with unique birds on its territory. The staff is super nice. It's a shame I don't remember the lady at reception's name; she was exceptionally nice and professional, helping with all sorts of requests. Should I mention that you get a complimentary welcome shoulder massage upon arrival? Paradise! Even though the staff did not know we would come to dinner, they prepared a cake for the birthday. So sweet! Thank you to the whole team for taking care of guests and maintaining the territory. Sigiriya Rock is just a 15-minute drive from the hotel, by the way.

Marvelous views and ambience !
We had a magical stay at the Water Garden Villa hotel, the hotel has stunning views of Lion's Rock in Sigiriya. The service was spectacular, and the tranquil ambience, surrounded by peacocks and birds, made it a lovely experience. It was hard to leave the hotel with such a peaceful atmosphere and the joy of bird watching from our villa and just walking around the hotels premises. Special thanks to our butler who was assigned to us, Diland, who was incredibly helpful, always ready to pick us up in a golf car to the restaurant or spa whenever we required . We highly recommend this place for a serene and unforgettable stay!
