Wiang Kum Kam is an ancient city near Chiang Mai, known for its rich history dating back to the 8th-century Haripunchai Kingdom. Later, it became part of the Lanna Kingdom and served as a bustling trade and cultural hub. The food culture in Wiang Kum Kam, as in much of northern Thailand, is a melting pot influenced by Burmese, Laotian, and Chinese cuisines. Traditional northern Thai dishes, known as "Lanna food," often feature aromatic herbs, spices, and fresh vegetables that are abundant in the region.
