Best Time To Visit Almaty (Kazakhstan) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Almaty, Kazakhstan

The optimal time to visit Almaty, the cultural and commercial hub of Kazakhstan, is during the late spring and early fall, particularly between May to June and September to October. During these periods, the weather is most favorable for exploring the vibrant city streets and the breathtaking natural surroundings. Visitors can enjoy comfortable temperatures averaging 20-25°C (68-77°F) which allow for a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking in the nearby mountains, strolling through the city's parks, or exploring local markets without the discomfort of the peak summer heat or the harsh, cold winters.

Moreover, these shoulder seasons bring the added advantage of avoiding the peak tourist times, which typically occur in July and August. This means not only do visitors get to enjoy fewer crowds at popular attractions like Kok-Tobe Hill, Medeu Skating Rink and Ski resort, and Charyn Canyon, but also accommodation prices tend to be lower. Additionally, the spring season blesses the region with beautiful blooms, whereas the fall offers a spectacular display of golden and amber hues as the leaves change color, making it a visually delightful time for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
