Getting to Angkor Wat

By Air: The nearest airport is Siem Reap International Airport (REP). Upon landing, you can hire a taxi, tuk-tuk, or arrange for a hotel pickup to Angkor Wat which is approximately 6 km away from the city center.

By Road: Siem Reap can be reached by bus, taxi or rental car from Phnom Penh and other major cities. The journey from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap is about 5-6 hours by road. If you're coming from Bangkok, you can take a bus to the border at Poipet and another from Poipet to Siem Reap.

By Boat: Another scenic option is traveling by boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap along the Tonle Sap lake, although this service is seasonal and dependent on water levels.

Local Travel to Angkor Wat

To explore the Angkor Archaeological Park, you have various options:

  • Tuk-tuk: A popular way to visit Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples.
  • Bicycle: Bicycles can be rented for a day and offer a leisurely way to explore the temples.
  • Electric Car or Motorbike: Some services offer eco-friendly ways to visit the temples.
  • Guided Tours: Many local tour operators provide guided tours, which include information about the history and architecture of the temples.

Note: Tourists are required to buy a pass to enter the Angkor Archaeological Park. Passes can be purchased at the main entrance. Remember to dress conservatively as Angkor Wat is a religious site.
