Banteay Srei, located near Siem Reap in Cambodia, is a stunning 10th-century Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva. Known as the 'Citadel of the Women,' the temple is famed for its intricate pink sandstone carvings that are remarkably well-preserved, and it is considered one of the finest monuments of classical Khmer art. With its relatively small size, elaborate decorative wall carvings, and well-preserved sculptures, Banteay Srei stands out among the Angkor temples. The carvings depict scenes from ancient Hindu tales and are so delicate that they are thought to be the work of women, hence the name. It was rediscovered in 1914 and cleared from the jungle in the 1920s. Banteay Srei is located about 25 kilometers northeast of the main group of temples at Angkor Wat, requiring extra travel but rewarding visitors with its unique charm and less crowded experience. The temple has undergone extensive restoration work, which makes it one of the most complete complexes available for viewing at Angkor.

Nice temple visit along with kids running around

Another great temple. I loved the kids running around enjoying themselves having so much fun. Not a huge temple but still one to visit and learn about.
