Bhagavathy Amman Temple, located in the coastal town of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, India, is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Devi Kanya Kumari, an incarnation of Parvati. The temple is situated at the southernmost tip of the Indian mainland where the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal converge. This ancient temple is mentioned in the Ramayana and Mahabharata and has been an important pilgrimage site for centuries. Art and architecture blend magnificently in this temple with its beautiful gopuram, intricate carvings, and ornate sanctum. The deity, Goddess Kanya Kumari is depicted in her adolescent form and is believed to have done penance here to secure Lord Shiva's hand in marriage. The diamond nose ring of the deity is famous for its sparkling splendor and is said to be visible from the sea. The temple's location at the edge of the ocean adds a mystical charm and attracts swarms of devotees as well as tourists year-round.
