Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a renowned monument located in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, at the southern tip of the Indian Peninsula where the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean converge. It stands on one of the two rocks projecting out of the Lakshadweep Sea and is a revered spot where the great Indian spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda meditated and attained enlightenment in 1892. This iconic structure was built in 1970 to honor his visit to Shripada Parai. It comprises two main structures, the Vivekananda Mandapam, and the Shripada Mandapam, symbolizing the harmony of religions and human unity. Its striking architecture reflects various styles from across India, and the rock is also said to bear the footprint of the goddess Kumari who performed austerity on this site. The site presents a picturesque and serene setting, offering panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding areas. A meditation hall also provides a tranquil space for visitors to meditate and soak in the spiritual energy of the place.
